With the school holidays almost over now is the time to forget about the kids and to spoil yourself! With the tightening economy, there are great deals to be had nationwide!
Winter's long nights are also great for getting out on the town, catching a film festival movie, or taking in some of Aotearoa's fine musical talent.
Don't forget that this week is Maori Language Week. Our Maori word of the week is Iporangi - Internet.  And well done Google for recognising our unique culture and adding Maori Language options to www.google.co.nz!

On Friday October 13th, 1307, many of the Knights Templar were arrested in France under the edict of Phillip IV, with the Pope`s blessing. This has been considered a unlucky day since.
At Roadworks, we think Black Friday is actually a lucky day for most, so we've launched some great new competitons for you... Another six bottles of quality wine from Lovrich Wines, a Speed Reading Course from Comprendo, Movie tickets from The Pureskin Clinic, plus our regular favorites from Il Buco, Wild Poppies and Atomic Coffee.
The big event for the weekend is the All Blacks vs England at Eden Park. If you are heading off to the match, take the train, arrive early and check out Kingsland's great restuarants and bars and whatever you do - don't park over my driveway :)

Q. What do Roadworks Online and the United Nations have in common?
A. Both have had Russian hackers attack their sites!
On May 16th Roadworks Online fell victim to Russian-based hackers. The result of this was that some data was destroyed, plus malicious material was planted on our site, causing a potential problem for our visitors.
On recognising the attack we immediately restored our database from a clean back-up and suspended our public entry forms, as we attempted to find our vulnerability.
We're happy to advise that we were able to determine this quickly and secure our site. Being perhaps a little paranoid, we did however continue to restrict our public entry forms for community notices, gigs and competition entries as a precautionary measure.
Now that we are confident that we have addressed the vulnerability we have reinstated full functionality to all of our sites.
We'll be back on schedule with our regular fortnightly newsletter from next Thursday, however in the interim we would like to thank our advertisers and supporters for your patience over this most frustrating period.

We have also extended the competitions below, so get your entry in over the weekend and good luck!!

Happy New Year from everyone at Roadworks.

Our friends at essential4 tell us that the current year is the beginning of a new nine year cycle for us all. It holds the promise of being an exciting new adventure, with life taking on new challenges that pave the way for the next cycle of nine years in our lives. This is a time to clarify your goals and it is a time to act on them.

Hard work may be necessary to get a new venture moving. Your physical strength will be up during this year, perhaps higher than it has been for some time, as you have some special needs for this extra energy.
Go you good things!
